The Knight and the Castle:
Ages 3-7 and up
Imagine you have been selected by the king, to create a weapon that can launch a flaming ball of fire over a neighboring castle wall. Are you up for the task, valiant Dames and Sirs? During this class you will be given the materials and ammunition you need to build and design your very own catapult. We will use puff balls as ammunition and popsicle sticks for catapults.
Mythical Creatures; Dragons and Unicorns: all ages
Evidence abounds that these mythical creatures with a magical horn, creamy milk and silver blood have been resurfacing after centuries of hiding. Are you willing to join the quest to find a unicorn or dragon? Come explore a world of mythical creatures as we make a unicorn horn, a dragon’s tail and a rainbow in a bowl.
CSI: Ages 10 and up.
A crime has been committed in your library. Cookie dough has been stolen. Are you ready to become a top crime scene investigator? Gather your evidence, question your suspects and do your best to determine, “Who Stole the Cookie Dough?”
A Tale of Two Volcanoes
Ages 3-12
According to Mexican legend, two volcanoes sit side by side, one sleepy the other restless. Join as we create two different types of volcanoes, one which slowly spews lava, the other blows its top furiously. Dress for a mess as we explore different lava consistencies.
Later Alligator
Ages 7 and up
Ever wonder why Long Island is shaped like an alligator? Using kinetic sand and a giant map of Long Island, we’ll try to recreate the process that formed Long Island. Then, together we’ll create our own legend of Long Island’s interesting landscape as we carve out our own story and tell the tale of our home.
